Probably 90% of the published photos you see in magazines are studio shot.
Studio pluses: I have total control of lighting. No rainy days or cloudy skys. I can make blueish daylight or warm candlelight with gel filters.
I also control the "softness" of the light. Sunlight is pin point lighting, with harsh shadows. I prefer large light sources close to the subject, creating a very soft light with soft shadows.
Disadvantages are the sets and static nature. Its impossible to create sets like you find in public. And not much action in the photos, not much spontaneity.
